This was a great and very rewarding project to be involved in. It’s not the kind of thing you normally hear of or see, let alone ever get to work on.
What am I talking about? Fruit cages.
Let me tell you a bit about the story behind it and what was required of us. The fruit cages are needed to basically home the fruit trees and stop birds swooping in and eating / destroying the produce. The property is an Edwardian house down in Sussex and the owners boast a self-sufficient life style. For that reason, having a full, untouched harvest is extremely important.
Our specifications were to produce the fruit cages in a fashion to match the existing works that have been in place around the property and land for some years now. There are some photos below for your perusal.
As a way to reduce wastage and costs, the meshing effect was laser cut from 5mm steel and then finished with a powder coating.
Once on site, we fitted the bespoke fabrication, much to the joy of the client’s entire family.
